Presence Since 2004
In the spring off 2004 we have started with our Herefords. We bought four older cows in calf, later we purchased a few more heifers.
Now we have each year ten to twelve cows with calves. We keep all heifers and bulls until they are two years old, in total we have around thirty Herefords each year.

Why Herefords
Firstly a Hereford has a friendly character and therefore very easy to handle even when she has a calf. It´s common know that they calf easily, that´s because the calves are light weighted and have a fine bone structure.
There are horned and polled Herefords, we have chosen for the polled Herefords. Because we keep all our bulls until they are two years old, we think it´s a little bit saver that way.
We are a member off the Dutch Hereford Society and our cows are free off IBR and milking fever.

Working-procedure
The cows have there calves in spring, from April they can graze in the meadow. In winter the cows stay in a large stable with straw, they can walk and eat outside.
The first years we used artificial insemination, now we use our own bull. This way the calving season is shorter.
End of December the cows come in the barn, the younger calves stay with their mother. The older heifer and bull calves are separated form their mother and each other.
